Vietnam’s exports to Turkey continue to rise

(CPV) – Trade exchange between Vietnam and Turkey reached more than USD241 million in the first quarter this year, a year-on-year rise of 14 percent, according to statistics by the Vietnam’s General Department of Customs.

Of this, Vietnam’s exports to Turkey were valued at more than USD219 million, up 19 percent, and its imports from the market posted more than USD22 million, down 19.3 percent.

In the first three months of 2013, fibre of all kinds brought the largest turnover of Vietnam’s exports to Turkey at USD69.8 million, a year-on-year decrease of 11.1 percent. Following it were telephones and components (up more than 102 percent), computer, electronic products and components (up 22.5 percent) and wood and wooden products (up 4.3 percent).

On the contrary, Vietnam’s traditional export commodities to the market saw reduction in turnover, including pepper (34.6 percent), iron and steel of all kinds (31.4 percent), rubber (29.7 percent) and seafood (20 percent).

For imports, in the first quarter this year, Vietnam’s major imported commodities from Turkey were machines, devices and other components at USD 5.1 million (up 155 percent), cloth of all kinds at USD3.7 million (up 54.2 percent), pharmaceuticals at USD2.2 million (down 15.4 percent), and chemical products at USD0.8 million (down 11.1 percent)./.
