Da Nang increases efforts to attract Japanese investment

Onose Takahisa, President of the Japanese Business Association in Da Nang city term 2020-2021, appreciated the Vietnamese city’s investment environment, including low prices in land hire, and confirmed that more and more Japanese investors will come to Da Nang in the future.
He made the statement when he and a delegation of the Japanese Business Association were received by Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee, on February 19th.
During the reception, the delegation members expressed their impression of the rapid development of Da Nang and their hope to continue expanding business investment activities and trade relations in the city.

Mr. Yakabe Yoshinori, Chief Representative of the Japanese Consulate Office in Da Nang, suggested that the city soon have an appropriate place to build the diplomatic mission area, creating conditions for the Japanese Consular Office to set up an official office (Japanese Consulate General) in Da Nang.
They also urged the city to pay attention to preparing high-quality labour resources to satisfy businesses’ staff demand.
Appreciating the positive contributions of the Japanese business community to the city’s socio-economic development, Chairman Huynh Duc Tho noted that Japan’s investment is currently leading 38 countries and territories investing in Da Nang, with 204 projects and total capital of USD901 million, focusing mainly on manufacturing, processing, construction and information technology. In 2019 alone, a number of large Japanese investment projects were expanded in Da Nang such as Daiwa Vietnam factory expansion project, and Mikazuki Spa & Hotel Resort project.
Chairman Tho committed to creating favorable conditions for Japanese investors to expand production and business in Da Nang; and requested relevant departments and agencies to address any obstacles for Japanese enterprises, especially on procedures for granting new work permits to foreign workers.
He encouraged Japanese businesses to join hands with the city to overcome difficulties caused by Covid-19.
Expressing his thanks to the city for always supporting the Japanese business community, President Onose Takahisa said he believed that Da Nang will continue to be a destination for Japanese investors in the future./.
