Central locality targets to attract over VND6 trillion to industrial zones

In 2020, the central province of Thua Thien Hue targets to attract 8-10 domestic and foreign projects to economic and industrial zones with total registered capital of VND6-8 trillion, an increase of 8% compared to 2019, Le Van Tue, Head of the Management Board of Thua Thien Hue Economic and Industrial Zones, has said.

Of which, the amount of disbursed capital is expected to reach some VND6 trillion while 100% of implemented projects must ensure environmental procedures, producing turnover of VND29.5 trillion and contributing VND3.05 trillion to the budget.

According to Mr. Tue, this year, the zones will inaugurate 9 key projects, notably the automobile assembly and production complex of the Bac Viet automobile manufacturing industrial company on an area of 50 hectares, using a capital of VND2.655 trillion, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2024.

He said that as there had been an increase in the number of foreign investors and partners to the province’s economic and industrial zones, the province had focused on improving the infrastructure and actively supporting investors to quickly complete administrative procedures, and tackle all obstacles to speed up the progress of the projects.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Phan Ngoc Tho also confirmed that in 2020, the province will continue to complete technical, economic and social infrastructure in combination with protecting the environment, and creating favorable environment for investors to come to the zones, thus providing jobs for local laborers.

He urged the Management Board of Thua Thien Hue Economic and Industrial Zones to issue preferential policies to call on strategic and professional investors and prestigious businesses who run their operation in connection with protecting the environment.

Statistics of the management board show that there are currently nearly 200 businesses registering their operations in the zones. In 2019, the stable operations of the businesses brought about over VND28 trillion in turnover, over VND20 trillion in industrial production value, VND2.663 trillion in budget collection, and USD688 million in export turnover.

Furthermore, the businesses helped create jobs for 31,500 laborers./.
