Pangasius exports to Germany see double-digit growth

According to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), as of the first half of June 2023, Vietnam's pangasius exports to Germany continued to record positive growth while the export to most of the main markets decreased from 3%-61%.

Germany is one of the few markets that keeps a positive double-digit growth in Vietnamese pangasius imports in the first months of 2023.
From the beginning of the year to June 15, the value of pangasius exports to Germany reached more than USD17 million USD, up 53% from the same period last year and accounting for 2.1% of the total export value of Vietnamese pangasius to other markets.
In 2022, Germany was the number 2 importing market of Vietnamese pangasius in the EU after the Netherlands, accounting for 14% of the share in the EU market with nearly USD30 million, up 169% compared to 2021.
At present, Germany’s seafood consumption has been impacted, including by inflation, with German consumers shifting to increase their consumption of frozen, fresh and chilled seafood to save costs.
With the inflation rate and inventories in Germany gradually decreasing, Vietnamese pangasius is projected to continue maintaining robust growth in this market ahead in the final months of the year./.
