On July 10, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said that its international transportation of lychee in May, June and the beginning of July 2023 grew by 200% from the same period last year.

The results were achieved thanks to the effective coordination between lychee farmers, exporters and Vietnam Airlines' air logistics system.

Accordingly, Vietnam Airlines recorded transporting nearly 90 tons of fresh lychees for export to European countries (UK, France, Germany) and Asia (Japan, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia) in May, June and early July 2023. For the domestic market, Vietnam Airlines has transported nearly 1,300 tons of lychees to the whole country.

Right from the beginning of June 2023, lots of fresh lychees have been continuously exported to other countries. In addition to road, sea and railway, the demand for fresh lychee export by air in 2023 is expected to increase by 50% compared to 2022.

With many years of experience in transporting lychees domestically and internationally, Vietnam Airlines has planned to serve this source of agricultural products very early.

The airline actively coordinated with local businesses and farmers to survey the market before entering the lychee harvest season in major northern lychee regions such as Bac Giang, Hai Duong, and Quang Ninh at the end of April 2023. The survey aimed to assess the harvest situation of farmers, and determine the need for air transportation to develop appropriate policies and service plans.

Through the policy of maximum support for Vietnamese agricultural exports, Vietnam Airlines has cooperated with lychee export companies and freight forwarders to develop a preferential price policy and always give priority to the source of goods.

Goods are kept in cold storage with the required temperature, while priority is given to fast import and on the flight so that the lychees arrive on schedule, ensuring that the quality is still maintained when it reaches the consumers./.
