Speaking at the opening of the event, Ms. Jariya Chirathivat, Vice President of Central Group, emphasized that Vietnam is one of Thailand's most important trading partners and one of the countries with great potential for exporting vegetables and fruits within ASEAN.

Attending the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh highly appreciated Central Retail in its efforts to promote Vietnamese fruits in the Thai market, contributing to the restoration of agricultural cooperation between the two countries. The Ambassador said that the second launch of Luc Ngan lychee product in Thailand will help bring more Vietnamese fruits to Thailand as well as attract tourists from third countries to the two countries.

This year, Central Retail has exported more than 3 tons of Luc Ngan lychee to Thailand with full logos and labels, as well as information about GlobalGAP certification and geographical indication stamps. Vietnamese lychee products will be offered and sold by Central on the stalls of Tops and Tops Food Hall supermarkets located in Central's commercial centers in Bangkok. Each box of Vietnamese lychee with a weight of 1 kilogram will be sold for VND200,000.

Meanwhile, Mr. Paul Le, Vice Chairman of Central Group, praised the Vietnamese lychee as the best in the world with its sweet taste and small seeds. He also said that the number of Vietnamese lychees that Central exports to Thailand increases annually. Currently, Central Retail is trying to optimize the supply chain and logistics services to shorten the time to bring products from the harvest to the shelves, ensuring product quality, thereby increasing the number of lychees sold on the market.

On May 16, Central Retail Vietnam and the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee signed a cooperation agreement on lychee consumption this year, towards consuming about 300 tons.

Luc Ngan lychees were exported to Thailand for the first time on June 30, 2017. The fruit has since then become popular in the country.

Lychee is grown in many localities in Vietnam, mostly in the North, with Bac Giang known as the country's lychee growing hub.

The province harvested 199,500 tons of lychee in 2022 and earned nearly 6.8 trillion VND from lychee sales and support services, according to the provincial People’s Committee.

Bac Giang lychee has affirmed its brand and value in many countries and territories around the world with 75,900 tonnes shipped abroad, making up 38.1% of the accumulative sales./.
