Viettel achieves record growth rate in 4 years

Viettel achieved double-digit growth in the first half of the year, according to an announcement of the Military Industry-Telecommunications Group (Viettel). This is the highest growth rate that Viettel has achieved over the past 4 years.

In Vietnam, Viettel continues to maintain the first position in telecommunications with 54% market share of mobile subscribers and over 40% market share of FTTH fiber internet subscribers.

In the first 6 months of this year, the group has had many policies to attract customers using 2G and 3G technology to use 4G infrastructure, accumulating nearly 40 million 4G subscribers, increasing the proportion of 4G subscribers to nearly 75%; broadcasting 168 5G stations in 24 provinces and cities. Viettel sets a goal in 2022 to test 5G in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide.

Viettel’s foreign telecommunications sector grew nearly twice the rate of global telecommunications growth. The group’s service revenue grew in all 9 markets compared to the same period last year. In which, 6 markets had double-digit growth including Movitel (Mozambique) 38.6%; Mytel (Myanmar) 79.6%; Natcom (Haiti) 28.6%; Lumitel (Burundi) 22.4%; Telemor (Timor Leste) 15.9% and Halotel (Tanzania) 14.2%.

In the field of information technology solutions and digital services, Viettel promotes business of new services such as TV 360, Viettel Money, eSport, and solutions for smart homes and security cameras.

Viettel also started the process of promoting technology products to international markets such as B2B services in Myanmar; cyberinformation security services in Germany; cooperated with Nvidia Technology Corporation (USA) to expand the business system with artificial intelligence (AI) companies globally; and traded in telecommunications network equipment and information machines in some Southeast Asian and South Asian markets.

In the first half, Viettel’s consolidated revenue reached 79.7 trillion VND, up 6.6% year on year. The group’s service revenue reached nearly 72 trillion VND, up 11.6%. Viettel's pre-tax profit reached VND 26.6 trillion, up 21.7% year on year./.
