Vietnamese director awarded France’s art order

Vietnamese female director Nguyen Hoang Diep has been honoured to receive the "Chevalier de l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres" (Knight of Arts and Letters) order by Ms. Frederique Bredin - President of France's National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image, for her contribution to French culture.

The event was chaired by Ms Eva Nguyen Binh, French Counsellor of Cultural action in Vietnam.
In her speech, Ms. Bredin reviewed Diep’s career and contribution to the development of art and literature.
Born in 1982, Diep graduated in filmmaking from the Theatre and Cinema College and has emerged as an independent filmmaker in Vietnam.
She made her first movie entitled “Dap canh giua khong trung” (Flapping In The Middle of Nowhere) in 2013. The movie has been screened and has won many prizes at domestic and international film festivals.
The Knight of Arts and Letters award was established in 1957 by the French Minister of Culture, and its national merit status was confirmed by President Charles de Gaulle in 1963.
The title is given to people making outstanding achievements or great contributions to the art and literature of France and the world./.
