Director Cuong Ngo has announced that his movie “Huong Ga” (Rise) won Best Vietnamese Film at the San Francisco International New Concept Film Festival 2016 in the US.
“Huong Ga” wins Best Vietnamese Film at the festival
“Huong Ga” is the story of Dieu, one of Vietnam's most notorious female gangsters.
The film festival has been approved by the US government and held three times in San Francisco. It is for filmmakers all over the world and encourages young and first-time filmmakers to show their new productions.
This year’s event attracted nearly 100 films to compete at different categories like Best Picture Award, Best Documentary Award, Best Short Native Film Award, Best Short Documentary Award, Best Commercial Award, Best MTV Award and Best Director Award. The film “Heart with the sun”, directed by Haotian Lu, won the highest award at the event.
Earlier, Cuong Ngo's film “Huong Ga” won the Best Feature Southeast Asia Panorama award at the Festival of Globe Awards 2015 held in California, the US, from August 7th to 16th. Actress Truong Ngoc Anh won an Excellent Achievement Award at the festival for her role./.
