ChosunBiz, a newspaper in the Republic of Korea (RoK), on May 6th ran a story highlighting Vietnam’s successes in containing the COVID-19 pandemic, in which it said Vietnam is among the most successful countries in curbing the disease.
Vietnam basically has the COVID-19 pandemic under control.
The newspaper quoted Vietnam Television reporting on April 29th that Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc declared Vietnam had basically put the COVID-19 outbreak under control, the first country ever to do so in the world.
The statement was made about three months after the first positive case was confirmed (January 22nd), marking a turning point in the global fight against the pandemic, the newspaper said.
Not only the Korean newspaper appreciated the prevention of COVID-19 in Vietnam, but a series of major international media have also praised Vietnam as a bright spot in preventing the COVID-19 pandemic, suggesting that the world should learn and follow Vietnam’s measures.
The Sydney Morning Herald of Australia on April 29th published an article assessing that Vietnam had gained “extraordinary results” in its efforts to prevent pandemics, as it had no reported new cases for successive days and there were no fatalities from the disease since the beginning of the outbreak.
Analyzing Vietnam's success story, Times of India website recently said that Vietnam assessed COVID-19 as a war with the statement "fighting the pandemic as fighting the enemy". Vietnam mobilizes all resources of the country, including the military, and starts quarantining strictly and tracking contacts with known cases since the number of infected cases was very low.
Vietnam has not reported any new cases for 3 weeks, with the infected number standing at 271, including 232 recovered and no fatalities./.
