According to Mr. Vojtěch Filip, Vietnam has achieved the success that many developed countries, led by the US, can only dream of. Vietnam has announced that it has successfully controlled the pandemic and in recent weeks there have been no more cases of infection in the community and no one has died of the pandemic so far. As a result, the Government of Vietnam has begun to gradually loosen urgent measures.
He especially appreciated that Vietnam could respond quickly and take specific measures from the outset to prevent the COVID-19 pandemic, although this is a country with more than 96 million people, bordering China and not a technological powerful country like the Republic of Korea.
At the beginning of the outbreak, Vietnam had only 3 laboratories capable of testing for SARS-CoV-2 virus, but by April, this number had increased to 112 facilities.
The fact that Vietnam has made very timely decisions, such as suspending foreign flights, requiring two-week quarantine for all people who enter, closing schools, shops and hotels, shows that Vietnam has taken initiative in preventing and controlling the pandemic without waiting for recommendations from the World Health Organization (WHO).
In addition, the Government of Vietnam regularly provides information to people through the messaging system and medical applications on their mobile phones. Vietnam’s Ministry of Health also regularly updates information on the pandemic on its website.
With all these drastic steps of Vietnam, Mr. Vojtěch Filip believes that this will be a lesson for the Czech Republic. He also said that the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic played a typical role in the fight against COVID-19 in the host country./.
