The “Holiday Money” report is conducted by the Post Office, the UK’s leading financial company, for the fourth year in a row to provide a ranking of the lowest-cost tourist destinations.

According to this year’s report, Hoi An (Vietnam) and Bali (Indonesia) are two representatives of Southeast Asia in the top 10 lowest-cost tourist destinations.

The ranking is based on the minimum required budget for eight staple items that holidaymakers are likely to purchase – a cup of coffee, a pint of beer, a can/bottle of Coca-Cola, a bottle of water, sun cream, insect repellent, and a three-course dinner for two with a bottle of wine at 46 tourist destinations worldwide.

The average cost in Hoi An is 58.39 GBP (80.51 USD) per day, which is more expensive than the famous resort island of Bali at 55.01 GBP (75.89 USD).

In Hoi An, a can of beer costs about 2.85 GBP (3.93 USD), a romantic dinner for two with a 3-course appetizer, main and dessert menu with a bottle of wine costs 34.37 GBP (75.9 USD) while a glass of wine would cost 2.6 GBP (3.58 USD).

Not only a world heritage site, a cheap destination, Hoi An ancient town with beautiful beaches such as An Bang and Cua Dai was selected by TripAdvisor as one of the 25 most popular destinations in 2021.

Meanwhile, Sunny Beach in Bulgaria is the lowest cost destination in the world when visitors only spend an average of 27.71 GBP (38.22 USD). Turkey's Marmaris ranked the second on the list at 37.19 GBP (51.33 USD)./.
