Vietnam’s Sea and Islands

An award ceremony of the writing contest “Overseas Vietnamese Youth and Students with tasks of protecting Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty” was organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Federation and the Ministry of Information and Communications in Hanoi on December 28th.

As many of 100 photos on Truong Sa Archipelago will take place at an exhibition entitled “Truong Sa in the heart of Hanoi” at the Exhibition House at 45 Trang Tien street, Hanoi, from December 31st, 2016 to January 3rd, 2017.

(CPV) - In recent years, consumers at home and abroad are increasingly familiar with and proud of products exploited and produced from territorial waters and islands of the nation such as Phu Quoc fish sauce, Ly Son garlic, and Nha Trang bird’s nest. These products have contributed to promoting and creating value for the brand of Vietnam’s sea and islands.

Maps, documents and publications on the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos are on display at an exhibition titled "Vietnam's Hoang Sa and Truong Sa - Historical evidence" which has opened in Kien Tuong town, the southern province of Long An.

Vietnam opposes all activities that violate its sovereignty as well as militarise and threaten peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and overflight in the East Sea.

Spratly Islands, the holy part of the nation, are being protected by those who sacrifice their youth. Accompanying with them is the whole nation, including their mothers, sisters, brothers and relatives.

As many as 70 photos by photographer Trinh Viet Hung, taken during his journey to Truong Sa Island district, are on display at an exhibition which has opened at the Museum of Cultures of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in the northern province of Thai Nguyen.

A workshop on the East Sea issue held in Geneva, Switzerland on December 6th issued a statement welcoming the ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in the Hague on the Philippines’s lawsuit against China’s claims in the waters.

"Peaceful dove for Vietnam" activity has been organized by the Vietnamese Embassy in Ukraine, the Ukraine-Vietnam Friendship Association and secondary school 251 named after President Ho Chi Minh in Kiev on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day and the World Peace Day (September 21st).

The authors of top prize-winning entries in the writing contest "Overseas Vietnamese youth and students with the task of protecting sovereignty over Vietnam’s sea and islands" will have the opportunity to visit Truong Sa archipelago.

The French -Vietnamese Friendship Association and organizations of the Vietnamese community, friendship organizations with Vietnam in France have issued a joint declaration in favour of the PCA ruling in The Hague in the Netherlands on the case of the Philippines on East Sea disputes.

(CPV) - The Da Nang city People’s Committee has decided to advance more than VND2.54 billion to reducing the number of less than 20CV capacity fishing vessels and motor boats exploiting fishery in the 2016-2020 period.

(CPV) - The project will be implemented from 2017-2020, including over 10 km of submarine power cable, 288m of ground power cable, and 4,846m of aerial power cable, with a total investment of nearly VND350 billion.

A photo and document exhibition on Vietnam’s sea and islands is organized by the Quang Binh provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnamese Library Association in the Northern Central region at the provincial library on September 14th - 25th.

On September 14th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Information and Communications coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to organize an exhibition on Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos.

Diep Son is an archipelago including three small islands of Hon Bip, Hon Giua and Hon Duoc in the territorial waters of Van Phong bay, Khanh Hoa province.

As many as 630 families with over 2,400 people on Cu Lao Cham island in Tan Hiep commune, Hoi An city, in the central province of Quang Nam, have gained access to the national grid as of September 3rd.
