(CPV) - The Kim Dong Publishing House, the Young Pioneer Newspaper and the “For beloved Hoang Sa, Truong Sa” Club launched a writing contest with the theme “Stories about the sea and islands” for children nationwide on August 30th.

An art program supporting Vietnam’s sea and islands was organized on August 28th at the Sapa Trade Centre in Prague, the Czech Republic.

The Binh Dinh provincial Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the provincial Vietnam Youth Federation and Saigon Tourism Vocational College organized a cycling tour to communicate tourism environmental protection of the sea and islands in Quy Nhon city on August 26th and 27th.

Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Germany on August 25th raised more than EUR5,000 (roughly USD5,600) to support people in mountainous and island areas in their homeland.

As many of 70 photos on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago will be displayed at the Exhibition House (No.45 Trang Tien street, Hanoi) from August 30th to September 6th, 2016.

Overseas Vietnamese and local people in the Czech Republic on August 23rd met in Prague to support the recent ruling from the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in Hague, the Netherlands, on the Philippines’s lawsuit against China’s claims to the East Sea.

The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) and the Golden Heart Foundation of Lao Dong newspaper received VND200 million from the overseas Vietnamese community in Ukraine to support the construction of the monument honoring Gac Ma heroes on August 15th in Hanoi.

In August, fishermen in the central province of Khanh Hoa are catching a great amount of anchovies, getting high profits as they are sold at a good price of VND17,000 per kilogram, a year-on-year increase of over VND6,000.

After the ruling of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) on July 12th in the Netherlands on the Philippines suing China surrounding sovereignty disputes in the East Sea, the French press has reported many news and articles on this issue.
