Quang Ninh enhances drug trafficking prevention at year-end

Smuggling and illegal transportation of drugs and drug precursors across the border in the province of Quang Ninh is becoming increasingly complicated.

The Quang Ninh provincial authorties discovered 29 cases and arrested 63 drug traffickers between November 16^th, 2013 and October 15^th, 2014.

The number of cases detected has increased by 75% and the number of drug traffickers detained has increased by 87.8% compared to the same period in 2013. The seized exhibits included nearly 26kg of heroin, over 43kg of drugs and 256ml of liquid drug.

To effectively prevent illegal drug trafficking, the Quang Ninh provincial Customs Department has built a plan to enhance measures of supervision and prevention in the late months of 2014.

In addition, it must pay more attention to communicate for import-export businesses, visitors and local people to understand negative effects of drugs for themselves, families and the community. Thus, they don’t use, participate in, screen or join hands with illegal drug trafficking as well as cooperate with customs units to denounce drug-related crimes.
