Hanoi earmarks VND371 billion for Tet presents to poor families

Hanoi is expected to earmark over VND371 billion to give lunar New Year festival (Tet) presents to nearly 847,000 beneficiaries’ and poor families, according to a plan issued on December 7 by the city People’s Committee.

Accordingly, revolutionary contributors who are Vietnamese heroic mothers, people’s armed force heroes, labour heroes, wounded soldiers whose working ability is reduced, and revolutionary activists will be given presents worth VND1 million each. 

The same presents will also be allocated to revolutionary contributors who enjoy monthly assistance; representatives of martyrs’ relatives; volunteers enjoying monthly assistance; war resistance activists infected with toxic chemicals; and revolutionary activists arrested and imprisoned by enemies. 

Presents worth VND500,000 each will be provided to children of resistance war activists infected by toxic chemicals and enjoying monthly assistance; those worshipping martyrs; veterans and public security forces joining the war against the American imperialists; those who joined wars protecting the national independence and assisting Laos and Cambodia after April 30, 1975.

Meanwhile, VND300,000 presents will be granted to retired persons whose working ability is reduced and those in poor families.

Additionally, presents worth VND700,000-VND1.5 million will be presented to the elderly at the age of 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100 and more./.
