Seven giant lotus flowers launched to mark Buddha’s birthday

Seven giant lotus flowers representing the first seven footsteps of Buddha after his birth were set up on the Huong River in Hue City on May 12 to celebrate the Buddha’s 2568th birthday.

This is one of the important activities to open Buddha’s Birthday Week 2024 in Thua Thien Hue Province, from May 15 to 22 (the 8th to the 15th day of the fourth Lunar month).
The lotus flowers are constructed of pink cloth petals around a steel frame with each flower weighing up to 300kg, and measuring 7.6m wide and nearly 4m tall.
This is an annual event during the Buddha’s Birthday Week in Thua Thien Hue Province
The seven giant lotus flowers will be lit at 7 pm on May 15.
On the same day, the Vietnam Buddhism Sangha Executive Council of Thua Thien Hue Province, in coordination with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Hue, released fish into the Huong River to regenerate aquatic resources./.
