NA Standing Committee’s 36th session concludes

The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee wrapped up its 36th session in Hanoi on August 23 after four and a half days of sitting, fulfilling its set agenda.

Closing the session, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that regarding the law-building work, the NA Standing Committee examined for the first time the draft amended Electricity Law and the draft Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Technical Standards and Regulations.

The NA Standing Committee gave opinions on the assessment and revision of the draft Law on People's Air Defence.

At this session, the committee decided to add the draft Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance to this year’s law and ordinance making programme. So, the draft will be submitted to the NA for consideration and approval at the 8th session of the 15th legislature that is scheduled to take place in October and November. Thus, 13 draft laws are expected to be approved at the coming NA sitting.

Regarding the supervision work, the NA Standing Committee spent one and a half days questioning the implementation of its resolutions on thematic supervisions since the beginning of the 15th legislature to the end of 2023, which related to nine areas.

The committee also reviewed the reports by supervisory delegations and decided to pass a thematic supervision resolution on the implementation of policies and laws to innovate the organisational and management system, the quality and efficiency of public non-productive units in the 2018 – 2023 period.

The NA Standing Committee reviewed a NA report on people's petitions in July 2024.

At the session, members of the NA Standing Committee also gave opinions on the draft supervision plan on the implementation of policies and laws on the development and use of human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development, especially high-quality human resources.

A resolution relating to urban classification, standards of administrative units and classification of administrative units, arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the of 2023 – 2030 period was passed at this session.

NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasised that the work on the arrangement of administrative units is very important and urgent to facilitate the preparation for Party Congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Party Congress./.
