NA Standing Committee strongly backs prohibition of human fetus trading

Full-time lawmakers on August 13 strongly supported the prohibition of trading human fetuses as the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the draft revised Law on Prevention and Combat of Human Trafficking.

They said the practice of buying and selling fetuses precedes the trafficking in persons.
Regarding the birth of a child during the trafficking of the mother, National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh said both the mother and her child would face numerous difficulties after being rescued.
She proposed regulations on cultural support and initial allowances to individuals under 18 years old who accompany trafficking victims during their reintegration process.
In line with the expanded definition of human trafficking, the National Assembly Standing Committee also discussed additional measures, beyond criminal prosecution, to enhance the effectiveness of the fight against human trafficking./.
