At a celebration in Washington on September 5, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the US highlighted important milestones and achievements in the country’s national construction and development over the past 79 years. He also underscored the significant progress and results in all aspects of Vietnam-US relations since the two countries normalised relations in 1995, including the establishment of a comprehensive partnership in 2013 and the elevation of their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2023.

Addressing the event, US Deputy Secretary of State Kurt Campbell affirmed that the US will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam to effectively implement the comprehensive strategic partnership framework, while preparing well for the 30th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year.

Participants were treated to special music performances and regional specialties of Vietnam.

In Stockholm, Vietnamese Ambassador to Sweden Tran Van Tuan reviewed major achievements that Vietnam has reaped in recent years despite the complicated developments in the world and the region, risks from prolonged conflicts and increasing uncertainties. The ambassador affirmed that Vietnam has recorded a positive economic growth rate, with controlled inflation, expanding trade and foreign investment and improving people's living standards. The country’s independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security have been maintained while development goals effectively realised, he added.

One of the highlights in the celebration was an Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional dress) show with the theme “Vietnam-Sweden: 55 Years of Friendship” by the Hanoi-based Vietnam Ao Dai Heritage Club. Through the collection, the designers want to highlight the strong and sustainable development of the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Sweden over the past 55 years, meeting the aspirations of the two countries' people.

A similar event also took place at the Vietnamese embassy in Venezuela on September 5 during which Ambassador Vu Trung My highlighted the significance of the day when President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Regarding the Vietnam-Venezuela relationship, he affirmed that Vietnam wishes to practically develop the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, making it on par with the sound political relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV)./.
