Vietnamese-funded irrigation system put into operation in Lao district

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Vo Trong Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of People’s Committee of Vietnam’s Ha Tinh province, which was assigned to work as the project’s investor, said that this is an important project, not only of socio-economic significance but also of profound political significance, and a symbol of the close brotherhood between the two peoples, thus helping to consolidate and enhance the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos and between Ha Tinh and Khammouane provinces.

This project aims to serve the agricultural sector of Khammouane province, further contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality, he added.

On behalf of the leaders of Khammouane province, Mr. Vanxay Phongsavanh, Secretary of the Party Committee and Governor of Khammouane province, expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Government and the Lao Government for assigning this project to the province to promote local agricultural production.

The project will provide irrigation for 500 hectares in four villages of Nongbok district, Khammouane province.

Previously, the delegation of Ha Tinh province led by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai paid a courtesy visit and had a working session with the leaders of Laos’ Khammouane province and presented a donation of 1 billion VND to Khammouane province.

Also on this occasion, the delegation offered incense and flowers to express their infinite gratitude and deep respect for President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site in Xiengvang village, Nongbok district, Khammouane province./.
