Ho Chi Minh city Party Secretary receives UK Ambassador to Vietnam

At the meeting, the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh city Party Committee highly appreciated the contribution of the UK Ambassador in promoting the bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as between the UK and Ho Chi Minh city in particular.

The UK is one of the biggest investment and trade partners of the southern economic hub of Vietnam. The bilateral trade exceeded USD800 million in 2016. The country also ranks 12th among foreign investors in the city.

Mr. Nhan hoped that the Ambassador would continue to promote Ho Chi Minh city-UK cooperation programs, including a public-private partnership to build an on-demand examination and treatment section at Nguyen Tri Phuong hospital, as well as called upon UK businesses to invest in the fields of education, trade, construction of Ho Chi Minh city Financial Centre and its smart urban development.

Ambassador Giles Lever appreciated the attraction of Ho Chi Minh city, as well as Vietnam to UK investors. He said that the British Business Association in Vietnam is developing and wants to expand its operations in the city, especially in the fields of infrastructure development, banking and services.

He noted that his country wants to build a smart- Ho Chi Minh city and promote projects on which the two sides are cooperating./.
