Da Nang city increases inspection over food safety ahead of APEC

On August 23rd, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee Ho Ky Minh chaired a meeting to review food safety work in the first half of the year and carry out the work in the second.

Accordingly, in the first half of this year, nearly 8,600 foundations were inspected, resulting in the detection of over 1,350 food safety violations and fines imposed of nearly VND1.7 billion.

The inspection of food quality was also carried out by taking over 2,000 samples of food and checking for possible toxic substances.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman Minh appreciated the efforts by agencies and localities in inspecting and dealing with food safety violations, urging authorised agencies to increase dissemination of food safety information, prevent food poisoning, expand food provision chains, enhance inspections to promptly detect food safety violations, better food quarantine work, and check the quality of food during festivals and events, especially the upcoming APEC Summit Week./.
