First quarter: Hanoi greets nearly 7.5 million tourists

The number of tourists to Hanoi reached more than 2.6 million in March, a year-on-year rise of 12%, bringing the total figure for the first three months of the year to nearly 7.5 million, a year-on-year rise of 10.6%, reported the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

Of this, foreign tourists numbered some 1.9 million, a 15.5% rise over a year earlier, including over 1.3 million foreigners staying overnight, a 12.6% rise. Domestic tourists reached nearly 5.6 million, up 9%. Total tourism turnover was estimated at VND26.95 trillion, a 32% rise from the same period last year.

The number of tourists to hot spots grew sharply from the same period last year, such as: Huong Son relic, Tan Da mineral spring tourist area, Thien Son Suoi Nga eco-tourism area, Duong Lam ancient village, and Vietnam Museum of Ethnology.

In the first quarter, business activities of typical travel business in Hanoi saw significant growth, such as Hanoitourist, Vietrantour, Kim Lien international travel company, and Mien A Dong Co., Ltd.

In March alone, room occupancy reached 76.6%, a rise of 9.48% from the same period last year and a slight decrease of 1.6% from the previous month. Average room occupancy for the quarter was estimated at about 74.9%./.
