“Journey to Lotus Village 2024” marathon to be held on June 9

This year’s event is expected to gather about 3,000 runners.

Director of the Nghe An Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi My Hanh said that the marathon is one of 10 activities within the framework of Lotus Village Festival 2024. This is a meaningful political and cultural activity, expressing the gratitude and respect to President Ho Chi Minh - Hero of national liberation, outstanding cultural celebrity.

The event also helps popularize Ho Chi Minh’s ideology; continue to carry out “Studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style"; and introduce and promote the culture of Sen village, hometown of Nghe An to friends, domestic and foreign tourists.

Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet Newspaper Nguyen Van Ba, co-organizer, said the running race helps promote the image of Uncle Ho’s homeland to people across the country, and introduce tourism products and cultural values to domestic and foreign tourists. 

In the four competition distances of the marathon, the 42km distance has a starting point from Nam Dan district while the three distances of five, 10 and 21km all start from Binh Minh road, Cua Lo town./.
