Ho Chi Minh city to increase healthcare cooperation with Cuba

Cuba shows its hope to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh city in providing its doctors to the city’s hospitals, in the pharmaceutical sector, in linking Cuba’s and the city’s universities, and in dental care programs for the residents.

The information was announced by Ho Chi Minh city People’s Committee Standing Deputy Chairman on May 16th during the reception for a delegation from the Cuban Health Ministry led by Deputy Minister Marcia Cobas Riuz.

During the reception, Mr. Liem confirmed that despite the great geographical distance, Vietnam and Cuba had maintained a special relationship over the past 60 years.

He stressed that the two countries had carried out diverse important diplomatic and political activities, and exchanged high level visits to reinforce the Vietnam – Cuba special friendly relationship.

Appreciating Cuba’s healthcare standard and quality of medicine, Mr. Liem said Ho Chi Minh city wanted to cooperate with Cuba in healthcare programs, including sending Cuban doctors to the city, distributing pharmaceutical products, and training healthcare human resources.

Expressing her admiration with Ho Chi Minh city’s and Vietnam’s development, Deputy Minister Marcia Cobas Riuz said that her delegation’s visit to Vietnamese localities aimed to increase cooperative efficiency in healthcare.

According to Ms Marcia Cobas Riuz, Cuban doctors are working in 63 countries all over the world, and Cuba is assessed as a nation with good healthcare services with over 10,000 doctors. “Therefore, Cuba hopes to cooperate with Ho Chi Minh city in doctor provision, pharmaceutical products, universities, and dental care programs,” she said./.
