Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has agreed to unilaterally suspend visa-free entry for citizens from 8 European countries.

The direction was put forth during the Government’s regular meeting held on March 9th in response to complex developments of Covid-19 in the country. Accordingly, Vietnam suspends visa-free entry for citizens from Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, the UK, Germany, France and Spain.
Earlier, the national steering committee on Covid-19 prevention suggested the Government suspend visa-free entry from the EU and UK. The visa-free entry suspension was also proposed for non-EU countries with 500 Covid-19 patients or more or over 50 cases reported per day. Foreigners who have symptoms or medical symptoms of Covid-19 will be denied to enter Vietnam.
To fight Covid-19, Vietnam has suspended visa-free entry for citizens from the Republic of Korea (RoK) since February 29th and from Italy since March 3rd.
On March 6th, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also agreed to suspend visa-free entry for overseas Vietnamese and their relatives from the RoK and Italy. Since March 7th, all passengers entering Vietnam have been asked to submit compulsory health declarations.
Statistics from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health indicated that as of 11h00 on March 10th, Covid-19 was reported in 109 countries and territories, infecting 114,063 people and killing 4,018.
In Vietnam, 15 additional cases have been reported over the past few days, bringing the total number of cases to 31, 16 of whom have been completely cured./.
