Ho Chi Minh City and CNN strengthen cooperation in tourism promotion

At the meeting, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Dung praised the results of the collaboration between CNN and Ho Chi Minh City in media programs promoting the city’s tourism on CNN's platforms. These efforts introduced Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism potential to international visitors, contributing to the positive outcomes of the city's tourism sector in recent years.

Notably, in 2024, the city has seen a significant increase in the number of both international and domestic tourists. In the first eight months of 2024, Ho Chi Minh City welcomed nearly 3.5 million international visitors, a 21.4% increase compared to the same period last year. This achievement was largely due to close cooperation with international partners, with CNN playing a key role. The collaboration between Ho Chi Minh City and CNN in international promotional campaigns has delivered positive results, helping to enhance the city's image on the global tourism map.

Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Dung stated that there are many more areas where Ho Chi Minh City and CNN can collaborate to create valuable media products that benefit both sides.

He expressed a desire to further strengthen cooperation with CNN and its partners in media activities, continuing to broadcast promotional videos about Ho Chi Minh City tourism on CNN as part of international media campaigns. He also hopes CNN will work on producing programs that introduce Ho Chi Minh City’s culture, people and unique experiences to international audiences, aiming to attract more tourists to the city. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of collaborating on media programs that promote foreign investment in Ho Chi Minh City, especially in priority development areas.

The Vice Chairman expressed his belief that with CNN's global network, images and information about Ho Chi Minh City will continue to reach millions of viewers around the world.

Erin Williams, Asia-Pacific Sales Director, noted that CNN is a trusted channel delivering quality content, especially in tourism promotion. CNN’s digital platforms reach hundreds of millions of viewers each month. Vietnam is a promising market for tourism on CNN, and the past collaboration between CNN and Ho Chi Minh City has achieved important milestones in promoting the city’s image to the international community.

Expressing readiness to strengthen cooperation in areas of Ho Chi Minh City’s interest, particularly tourism, Erin Williams shared that CNN is eager to work with the city to launch tourism promotion campaigns targeting high-end tourists with greater spending power. Additionally, CNN plans to promote the cultural strengths and people of Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam to global audiences through its media network./.
