During the meeting, the leadership of the port stated that the port is significant for Southeast Asian businesses, including those from Ho Chi Minh City, as it is the first stop for cargo ships entering Europe through the Suez Canal. In 2023, the Port of Koper signed a strategic cooperation agreement with VinFast Group. The current development goals of the Port of Koper include continuing to establish new projects, aiming for energy self-sufficiency, and expanding cooperation with global partners, including Vietnam.

It is expected that Slovenia will send a delegation to visit and work in Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City. The leadership of the Port of Koper expressed hope that this visit will allow both sides to engage in deeper exchanges and explore cooperation opportunities in the future.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Hai shared the development orientation of seaports in Ho Chi Minh City. He stated that Ho Chi Minh City holds a special position as a key economic hub of the country, a center for economy, culture, science, technology and international exchange in Vietnam.

According to Mr. Hai, currently, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing several specific mechanisms and policies regarding investment, urban management, resources, environment, science and technology, and priority sectors to attract strategic investors. The development orientation of Ho Chi Minh City's seaports is to plan potential areas into a special seaport, specifically by developing the Can Gio International Transshipment Port into a green, modern port, contributing to the formation of a large-scale international transshipment port cluster of regional and international significance.

He affirmed that the governance model of the Port of Koper is a strategic model that HCMC can refer to when building its seaport planning strategy. He expressed a desire for the leadership of the Port of Koper to sign cooperation agreements with Ho Chi Minh City enterprises in the fields of logistics center construction, port service management, port service operations, the development of transportation infrastructure connecting seaports, and the development of green ports that meet European and international standards./.
