On November 6, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An province held a seminar to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the Russian October Revolution (1917 - 2024), review the 2024 public diplomacy activities, and outline tasks for 2025.

During the conference, members revisited the heroic history and significance of the Russian October Revolution. On November 7, 1917, under the leadership of the Russian Communist Party headed by V.I. Lenin, the revolution succeeded and became one of the most remarkable events of the 20th century. The Russian October Revolution laid the foundation for the valuable traditional friendship between the Vietnamese and Russian peoples, which has continued to develop and strengthen over time despite historical challenges.

To reinforce this close bond, the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An Province engaged in numerous public diplomacy activities in 2024. The Association has consistently and proactively promoted the traditional solidarity and cooperation between the states and peoples of Vietnam and Russia. To date, the Association has established 13 local chapters, including one international chapter in Ulyanovsk, and two district chapters in Yen Thanh and Dien Chau.

In Ulyanovsk, Lenin’s birthplace, the Vietnamese Solidarity Association and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An collaborated to set up the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Room within High School No. 76 (now renamed Ho Chi Minh High School). This initiative included significant contributions in artifacts and cultural value from both provincial members, transforming the room into a hub for promoting Nghe An’s culture and people in Lenin's homeland. The Memorial Room has also become a cultural exchange center for the Vietnamese community and Russian citizens who admire Vietnam.

At the conference, members of the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association of Nghe An province discussed strategies and tasks to enhance and develop the Association’s public diplomacy efforts, thereby improving its impact in 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Hong Ky, Vice Chairman of Nghe An Union of Friendship Organizations, acknowledged the association’s achievements in 2024. He expressed his hopes that, in the upcoming term, the association would develop a proposal to promote local culture and products internationally through public diplomacy activities.

Additionally, the association is expected to actively fulfill its role as a “bridge” connecting Russian enterprises with businesses from Nghe An, contributing to the province’s economic, cultural and social growth. The association also aims to recruit more young, enthusiastic and dedicated members, fostering collective strength to continue nurturing the Vietnam-Russia friendship./.
