Vinh Phuc province hopes to boost cooperation with Singapore in diverse areas

Education, tourism - services, healthcare, high-quality human resource training, public administration research and logistics are among the areas Vinh Phuc province wants Singaporean investors to invest in. The province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for Singaporean investors.

So said Le Duy Thanh, Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee, at the meeting with the delegation of the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam led by Mr. Jaya Ratnam, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam, on May 29.

According to Mr. Thanh, the business trip of Vinh Phuc province's leaders to Singapore in October 2022 opened up many cooperation opportunities between the province, localities and Singaporean investors. In particular, in the field of education - training, learning conditions and Singapore's training program are suitable with the culture and goals of Vinh Phuc province. Therefore, he wishes that Singaporean educational investors will be present in Vinh Phuc, and provide suitable scholarships for students of the province.

In addition, he expressed his wish that a number of higher education institutions in Singapore could link up with universities and colleges in the province to open high-quality human resource training faculties for students in the electronics and high-tech industry.

In the areas Vinh Phuc wishes to attract Singaporean investors, Mr Thanh said, economic development cooperation is the most important. Up to now, Singaporean investors have had 12 projects in Vinh Phuc (including 7 projects outside the industrial park and 5 projects in the industrial park) with a total investment capital of nearly USD500 million.

In particular, the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center project of YCH Group (Singapore) in cooperation with T&T Group has become a symbol of the success of the win-win cooperation between Vietnam and Singapore in general and Vinh Phuc province in particular.

Mr. Le Duy Thanh asked Ambassador Jaya Ratnam to assist the province in removing difficulties and obstacles so that the project could soon come into operation, and promote its effectiveness. Vinh Phuc province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for investors in general and Singaporean investors in particular to research and explore investment opportunities in the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam expressed his impression of the socio-economic development achievements of Vinh Phuc province. Regarding the areas the province wishes to cooperate and invest in, he said he will inform Singaporean businesses in order to connect businesses of the two countries in general and with Vinh Phuc province in particular to sign cooperative agreements.

He also cordially invited Vinh Phuc province's leaders to attend the Singapore business forum to be held next July in Vietnam. He said that this event will open up many cooperation opportunities for Vinh Phuc with Singapore businesses.

On the same day, the Singapore Embassy delegation visited Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center in Binh Xuyen district and worked with the People's Committee of Binh Xuyen district. The Ambassador highly appreciated the strong support of local leaders to help speed up the progress of the Vinh Phuc ICD Logistics Center project. He affirmed that when put into operation, the project will strongly attract investment from Singapore./.
