Embassy in Saudi Arabia seeks outlet for Vietnamese products

In the discussion, Mr. Ali Saeed Albwardy, Spinneys President, said that in addition to this supermarket, the company aims to open three more supermarkets this year in Riyadh and Jeddah and at least four new supermarkets every year in Saudi Arabia for five to ten years.

Currently, Spinneys owns and operates more than 150 stores in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as well as five Spinneys and Al Fair stores in Oman.

At the working session, Ambassador Dang Xuan Dung informed Spinneys President about many strong export products of Vietnam, including products that have gained a foothold in Saudi Arabia such as agricultural products and fresh fruits, seafood and canned drinks.

The Ambassador expressed his hope that in the coming time, Spinneys will increase the import and sale of products from Vietnam, and affirmed that the Embassy will actively support Spinneys in connecting with Vietnamese exporters to increase cooperation between the two sides. Mr. Ali Saeed Albwardy was pleased to say that the company plans to open a representative office in Vietnam to import Vietnam’s fresh fruits and seafood.

Recently, the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Saudi Arabia have actively supported and connected many Vietnamese businesses with local partners and vice versa, contributing to increasing the quantity and value of Vietnamese exports to this country.

According to statistics from the General Department of Customs, the total import-export turnover in the first five months of 2024 between the two countries reached 1.16 billion USD, of which the export value from Vietnam to Saudi Arabia reached 615.3 million USD, an increase of 48.5% over the same period last year.

Main products include rice, seafood, cashew nuts, pepper, wood, furniture, beverages, textiles, car parts, electronic components, computers and phones.

During the same period, Vietnam imported raw materials of plastics, chemicals, petroleum from Saudi Arabia with a total value of 549.7 million USD, down 16.1%./.
