Tet celebration held for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand’s northeastern region

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen city of Thailand on February 3 organized an event to celebrate the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

The event attracted the participation of leaders from Khon Kaen city, the Consulates General of China and Laos, and many overseas Vietnamese who are living and studying in Thailand’s northeastern region.

At the event, Consul General Chu Duc Dung recalled the Party and State’s consistent policy of seeing the overseas Vietnamese important resources of the nation, and hailed their contributions to the national development through cultural and religious exchange activities over the past time.

The Consulate General stands ready to accompany and support the Vietnamese community, helping them promote solidarity and gain more achievements, he added.

Mr. Yutthaphon Phirunsan, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen province, expressed his joy and honor to have the opportunity to attend the Lunar New Year party organized by the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen.

He said that Vietnam and Thailand have a very good relationship, in which Khon Kaen and Da Nang are in the process of establishing a twinning relationship to cooperate and develop in many fields of art and culture, economy, trade, investment and tourism.

In the joyful atmosphere, the Consul General, overseas Vietnamese and distinguished guests happily enjoyed musical performances and Vietnamese traditional dishes on Tet./.
