After nearly 8 years of implementation, the program sending Vietnamese nursing workers to work in Japan during the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA) has gained positive results, with over 1,300 candidates having gone to work at Japanese hospitals and foundations for the elderly.

Having been carried out since 2012, the program has selected and given Japanese language training to 1,670 candidates in 8 training courses.
According to Deputy Minister of Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan, the sending of Vietnamese nursing workers to Japan is considered a bright spot in the sending of labourers to work abroad, as it promises to bring high economic value and contribute to expanding the relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
Speaking at a meeting to review the program held on November 12, Deputy Minister Hoan said that Vietnamese candidates had confirmed their outstanding ability compared to those from the others, with a high number of candidates passing the Japanese national exams for certificates.
“They are also appreciated with their hard-working, enthusiastic, competent working spirit and the Japanese language ability,” he added. “Therefore, Japan’s demand for Vietnamese nursing staff is always higher than that from other countries.”
During the meeting, Mr. Hayashi Mikio, First Secretary of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, spoke highly of Vietnamese nursing workers’ ability. “The number and quality of candidates have increased remarkably compared to others,” he said.
“The results also reflect the efforts to increase cooperation between the Vietnamese and Japanese Governments,” he went on to say./.
