Petrol and oil price decrease slows down June CPI

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in June dropped 0.17% from the previous month, bringing the index for the first six months of the year rising 4.15% over a year earlier, reported General Statistics Office (GSO).

Among 11 commodity groups with CPI calculation, three groups enjoyed price reduction, including restaurant and catering services (0.59%), transport (0.71%) and post and telecom (0.01%).

This month, petrol and oil prices decrease made price of fuel group go down 1.47% from the previous, contributing to reducing common CPI by about 0.06%.

In addition, price index of food group declined 0.51% due to northern localities harvesting the Winter-Spring crop, helped prices of some kinds of rice drop.

Eight commodity groups witnessing slight price increase included housing and building materials (0.53%), culture, entertainment and tourism (0.19%), beverage and cigarette (0.1%), education (0.09%), housing equipment and appliances (0.08%), clothing, hat, footwear (0.05%), other commodities and services (0.05%), and medicine and health services (0.01%).

Inflation rate in the first half reached 1.52%, lower than the planned rate of 1.6-1.8%; showing the stable control of the monetary policy./.
