The “Hai Phong-Japan Investment Promotion Conference 2023” organized by Hai Phong City People's Committee in collaboration with Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and ASEAN-Japan Center (AJC) was held in Tokyo (Japan).
Attending the investment promotion were some typical enterprises of Hai Phong city, together with nearly 150 enterprises, investors, investment-trade promotion organizations, and investment consulting units in Japan.

This was an important event in the series of activities of the investment promotion delegation of Hai Phong city in order to tighten the relationship between Hai Phong city and Japanese localities, partners and investors.
This was also an activity to enhance the attraction of investment, trade and tourism to Hai Phong city in general and industrial parks and economic zones in the port city in particular.
The delegation of Hai Phong city introduced overview information about potentials, advantages, investment opportunities and policies to attract investment in Hai Phong; listened to the opinions and experience sharing of large Japanese investors and enterprises that have succeeded in Hai Phong city; and answered and clarified the concerns of businesses in the process of researching and investing in the city.
The conference also received positive comments from Japanese investors. The businesses shared about the needs and situation of Japanese investment in Vietnam and the promotion of investment cooperation in between Vietnam and Japan; the potential and strength of Hai Phong as one of the top priority of Japanese investors when choosing to invest abroad.
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Hai Phong City Party Committee Le Tien Chau affirmed that Hai Phong is always ready to create the most favorable conditions for Japanese investors to invest in the industries, fields and areas that the city focuses on, including the processing industry, manufacturing, high technology, smart technology; marine economy, logistics, seaports and seaport services; ecological agriculture; and sectors that promote the green economy such as clean energy, renewable energy, gas power and wind power.
He pledged that the city government will continue to strongly improve the business investment environment, improve efficiency in attracting high-quality labor, and ensure all stable resources to further increase the efficiency of production and business of enterprises.
Over the years, Japan has always accompanied Vietnam in the process of economic development and international integration. Japan is the largest official development aid (ODA) provider, the second largest investor, the third largest tourism partner, and the fourth largest trading partner of Vietnam.
For Hai Phong city, the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the city and 6 Japanese localities and Japanese investors have been constantly cultivated.
Hai Phong currently has 151 projects by Japanese investors, with a total investment capital of USD5.23 billion, accounting for 20.4% of the city's total FDI investment. Currently, Japan is the second largest foreign investor in Hai Phong.
In 2022, the revenue of Japanese enterprises in Hai Phong reached USD2.2 billion, the export value reached USD3.08 billion. The Japanese projects focus mainly on mechanical equipment, electrical machines, electrical equipment, audio and video recorders, and plastic and rubber products./.
