Vietnam, Australia inaugurate 2 new direct flights

On June 4, during the official visit to Vietnam by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, after the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese witnessed the exchange of cooperation documents and the opening of 2 direct flights between the two countries.

Specifically, the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on science-technology cooperation and innovation.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Ministerial Dialogue on Trade between Vietnam and Australia.
The State Bank of Vietnam and the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre (AUSTRAC) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in exchanging financial intelligence related to money laundering and terrorist financing.
The University of Western Sydney (UWS) and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding on granting 70 scholarships to Vietnamese and regional students to study at UWS facilities in Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese witnessed the hand-over of the Certificate of Opening of the direct route Ho Chi Minh City - Brisbane by Vietjet Air, and the announcement of the opening of the Hanoi - Melbourne route by Vietnam Airlines. Thus, after Melbourne and Sydney, Brisbane is the third Australian city where Vietjet has direct flights between the two countries. This is also the first route connecting Vietnam with Brisbane and Queensland in Australia.
From June 15, Vietnam Airlines will officially operate a new direct route between Hanoi and Melbourne, Australia's second largest city, by Airbus A350 aircraft with a frequency of 2 flights per week on Tuesdays and Sundays. Vietnam Airlines is the airline with the most direct flights and the highest frequency of operation between Vietnam - Australia, operating 4 direct routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh city to Sydney and Melbourne cities with a total frequency of up to 18 routes per week.
On this occasion, Vietjet also announced the opening of the Ho Chi Minh City - Brisbane route from June 16 with 2 round-trip flights per week by modern large aircraft A330, contributing to promoting trade between Vietnam and Brisbane, and Queensland and Australia in general. Flights will take off from Ho Chi Minh City at 10:50 a.m. local time and land in Brisbane at 9:55 p.m. local time. In the opposite direction, flights depart at Brisbane airport at 23:30 (local time) and land in Ho Chi Minh City at 5:10 a.m. the next day (local time). Vietjet plans to open more routes connecting cities in Vietnam with Australia, and at the same time expand the connecting flight network from Australia to countries in the region and around the world./.
