In the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam's total new and adjusted investment capital abroad reached more than USD320.6 million, equaling 92.7% compared to the same period last year, according to statistics from the Foreign Investment Agency.

Of which, 60 projects were granted new investment registration certificates, with a total registered capital of nearly USD147 million, equaling 48.8% from the same period; and there were 16 adjusted projects with total investment capital increasing by nearly USD173.7 million, 3.9 times higher than the same period.
According to the Foreign Investment Agency, Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 13 industries. In which, wholesale and retail lead with 18 new investment projects and 5 capital adjustments, with a total registered investment capital of more than USD147.8 million, accounting for nearly 46.1% of total registered capital abroad.
The information - communication industry ranked second with nearly USD109.3 million, accounting for 34.1%; followed by agriculture, forestry and fishery; and finance – banking.
In terms of partners, 21 countries and territories received investment from Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2023. Leading was Canada with 1 new investment project and 1 capital adjustment project, with a total registered investment capital of more than USD150.2 million, accounting for 46.9% of total investment capital. Next were Singapore, Laos and Cuba.
As of June 20, 2023, the Foreign Investment Department said that Vietnam had 1,654 valid overseas investment projects, with a total investment capital of nearly USD22.1 billion.
Vietnam's investment abroad focused on the mining industry (31.6%); agriculture, forestry and fishery (15.6%).
The areas receiving the largest amount of investment from Vietnam were Laos (24.4%); Cambodia (13.3%); and Venezuela (8.3%)./.
