Ho Chi Minh City receives medical equipment to strengthen fight against COVID-19

On August 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, in collaboration with the City Departments of Health, and Industry and Trade, received specialized medical equipment worth tens of billions of VND to serve the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic from individuals and businesses.

Specifically, Sea Group (Shopee and Garena Vietnam) presented 500 oxygen generators; 20,000 level-4 protective suits; 400,000 N95 masks; 20,000 sets of oxygen tank pressure regulators and 5,000 oxygen tanks, with a total value of VD42 billion. All of the medical equipment will be delivered to 44 hospitals and foundations in charge of collecting and treating COVID-19 patients.

On the same day, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Vietnam Co., Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding with the City Fatherland Front to provide VND3 billion to buy vaccines and other medical supplies and equipment for the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the reception, Ms. To Thi Bich Chau, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Fatherland Front, said that although they are facing difficulties due to the impact of the pandemic, many businesses showed interest and contributions to the city's COVID-19 prevention and control. “Over the past time, nearly 100 organizations, businesses and individuals have registered to support a variety of medical supplies and equipment such as ECMO systems, high-function ventilators, PCR test kits, quick test kits, protective gear and medical masks worth more than VND1,650 billion,” she added.

Noting the timely response and support of businesses, especially e-commerce businesses, in finding necessary medical supplies and equipment for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City, Bui Ta Hoang Vu, Director of the City Department of Industry and Trade, said that the equipment will come to the city within one week, thanks to the e-commerce businesses’ experience as well as strength in logistics. “The presented equipment satisfies treatment foundations’ demand; therefore, the contributions are of great significance,” he said./.
