International competitors to join Open Hanoi Dragon Boat Race 2019

According to Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the Open Hanoi Dragon Boat Race 2019 will take place at the West lake from February 16th and 17th with the participation of some 500 professional and amateur racers from 35 domestic and international teams.

Professional competitors come from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, and Hong Kong (China), as well as different local cities and provinces.
The amateur teams from localities in Hanoi such as Ba Vi, Dan Phuong, Thanh Tri, Ung Hoa; and from foreign embassies, public agencies and businesses.
All will compete in groups of 12 people each on a 600m course on West lake - the area near Ly Tu Trong park, and Thanh Nien and Nguyen Dinh Thi roads.
The race is part of activities to realise the cooperation agreement between the city People’s Committee and Vietnam Airlines on cultural and sports development in the capital.
The festival will be held annually to restore and preserve traditional sports of the nation and contribute to promoting the unique culture of the capital. This will be also an opportunity for enthusiasts with boat racing to exchange, learn, and work together towards the goal of bringing the event to become a unique cultural product of the capital when spring comes./.
