Can Tho ready for APEC events in August

On July 18^th, Can Tho leaders worked with the APEC 2017 National Secretariat, chaired by Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss preparations for events of the forum.

Deputy Chairman of the city People’s Committee Dao Anh Dung said that among the 15 events, the Ministerial Conference will attract the participation of senior leaders of economies and 500 delegates.

Food Security Week, which will take place on August 21^st, and High Level Policy Dialogue on Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, which will be held on August 25^th, are considered as opportunities for the Mekong Delta city to promote trade and advertise local tourism.

Can Tho actively set up coordinative plans among ministries and branches to ensure that the events will be organized successfully and safely, resonating well with partners.

Specifically, the city entrusted the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with relevant agencies to well organize events, speed up trade promotion, advertise tourism and introduce technology in the agricultural sector.

The hub also associated with An Giang and Dong Thap provinces to design specific tours of the Mekong Delta’s waterways in combination with agricultural production models and typical green tourism.

Deputy Minister Thanh Son emphasized that one of the factors that make the event successful is the participation of a large number of enterprises. Therefore, Can Tho needs to focus on promotion activities so that enterprises are aware of the importance of the event, and take the opportunities to promote trade./.
