SSIT port receives 5,000 TEU container ship

The Rosaria container ship is currently operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (MSC) which is the world’s second largest container operator. As scheduled, there will be two container ships of the operator running the intra-Asia route and docking at SSIT Port.  

The joint-venture company between SSA Holdings International-Vietnam, Sai Gon port and Vietnam National Shipping Lines now manages the 60.5 hectare SSIT international port and a 600 meter wharf with 6 shore container cranes (STS) cranes and 21 rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, capability of receiving 160,000 DWT vessels. The annual loading capacity is around 1.5 million TEUs.

In addition, SSIT has a 236 meter landing stage for barges to collect freight from ICDs in the interior of Ho Chi Minh city and Dong Nai.

SSIT is expected to receive two services routes of new ship firms with a capacity of 300,000 TEUs a year and gain market share of container cargo through the port by the end of 2018./.
