According to statistics of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first half of March, the export value of tra fish to the US market increased by 18.8% compared to the same period last year.

This was an optimistic signal for tra fish exporters to the US, as export turnover to this market declined in 2019. As of mid-March, the US is Vietnam's largest tra fish export market, accounting for 18.8% of the total tra fish export value.

Since February, tra fish exporters have restarted exports to China. In the first half of March, tra fish export turnover to this market reached nearly USD13 million, an increase of USD1 million compared to February, leading to the assessment that the tra fish export turnover to China could increase by 40-50% in upcoming months.

However, tra fish export to some other major export markets such as the EU, ASEAN, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Australia decreased, due to the impact of COVID-19.

According to VASEP, despite the decreased export, the positive signs in some large markets help businesses realise opportunities in the upcoming time.

Currently, in order to continue to accompany the Government in social distancing, tra fish enterprises are continuing to encourage workers to fully implement measures to protect themselves and the people around them./.
