This information was released in a conference connecting overseas Vietnamese with businesses of the city, held by the State Committee for overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) in Ho Chi Minh city, on October 9th.
Phung Cong Dung, Chairman of the SCOV in HCMC, said the amount of remittances flowing to the city in 2019 is forecast to rise compared to 2018 due to the increase in the number of overseas Vietnamese, especially laborers working abroad.
The resources of overseas Vietnamese businesspeople and companies are not only the amount of overseas remittances but also the information network to assist domestic enterprises to boost overseas investment and business activities, he added.
Regarding cooperation between businesses, Mr. Steve Bui, Vice President of the Vietnam - Korea Business and Investment Association (VKBIA), shared that the Republic of Korea is very interested in Vietnamese products, especially coffee and noni.
He suggested Vietnamese enterprises should ensure food safety and hygiene if they wish to do long-term business in the market, while stressing that the association is ready to help Vietnamese businesspeople and enterprises if they are in need.
On this occasion, memorandums of understandings (MoUs) were signed between the SCOV in HCMC and the city Investment and Trade Promotion Centre; between VKBIA and the Association of Vietnamese Businesspeople in Italy in order to support each other in seeking opportunities and expanding markets./.
