(CPV) - The nation on September 26th welcomed the 12th gold medal at the ongoing AIMAG5 in Turkmenistan by duo Le Quang Liem - Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son in men’s rapid chess.

In the semi-final round, Vietnam defeated the host Turkmenistan in the third games, then entered the final game with Chinese rivals, Li Chao and Wang Yue. Thanks to the excellent performance, duo Le Quang Liem - Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son surpassed their competitors with a 1,5 - 0,5 score.
So far, the Vietnamese chess players won two golds in which Le Quang Liem contributed both the men’s rapid chess and the men’s standard chess events.
Also on September 26th, Vietnam bagged two more bronze medals in the women’s team rapid chess and the U23 women’s team rapid chess, after losing 0-2 to their Chinese rivals.
Players will compete for the four blitz events on September 27th.
On the tally table, the host Turkmenistan ranks first with 88 golds, while Vietnam is placed at 8th position./.
