(CPV) - Defending V.League 1 champions Quang Nam enjoy a fabulous start to the 2018 season by claiming its first ever National Super Cup trophy after edging out Song Lam Nghe An 1-0 at Hanoi’s Hang Day stadium on February 24th.
The reigning V-League champions entered the game without their foreign striker Claudecir, while Song Lam Nghe An lacked the service of first choice goalkeeper Nguyen Manh due to his injury.
The Song Lam Nghe An team created the better share of opportunities, but were profligate in the face of goal and often blocked by Quang Nam’s defensive line and keeper Van Cuong.
In the 42nd minute of the first half, from a free-kick 16m50 out, Phan Thanh Hung lofted the ball into the box, allowing Brazilian defender Thiago, 27, a close range tap in to give Quang Nam the lead.
In the second half, Song Lam Nghe An pushed hard to level the game. However, it failed.
The winner, under the manage Hoang Van Phuc, pocketed VND300 million while the runners-up of manager Nguyen Duc Thang received VND200 million.
The best player of the game Dinh Thanh Trung (midfielder, central Ha Tinh province-origin, 30) and the match goal scorer Thiago both were awarded VND10 million in cash.
Apart from the interesting moments on the grass, the A stand was full of capacity and half of the B stand also witnessed fans have become proven facts that the current success of the U23 national squad contributing to win the heart of football lovers.
Since 1999, the National Super Cup match has been annually held between the V-League champions and the National Cup winners./.
