(CPV) - The index of industrial production (IIP) in April in Hanoi increased by 3.3% over the previous month and by 3.6% over the same period in 2022, according to the Hanoi Statistics Office.

In the first 4 months of 2023, IIP increased by 1.6% over the same period; in which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 1.2%; electricity production and distribution increased by 3.8%; water supply and garbage and wastewater treatment increased by 8.4%; while mining decreased by 8.1%.
In 4 months, the whole city attracted 1.707 billion USD of FDI, of which: 103 new projects have a capital of 35.2 million USD; 50 additional projects increase their investment capital by 91.8 million USD; 105 arrivals of foreign investors contributed capital and bought shares worth 79.9 million USD and 1 transaction of Japanese investors (Sumitomo) bought shares of VPBank on the stock exchange with a transaction value of 1.5 billion USD.
Accordingly, in the first four months of the year, Hanoi has 10,300 newly established enterprises registering, up 13% over the same period; while registered capital reached 93.1 trillion dong, down 24%. Authorities have carried out dissolution procedures for 1,200 enterprises, an increase of 2%. There were 1,413 enterprises waiting for dissolution procedures, up 7% and 11,800 enterprises registered to suspend operations, up 25%, but also 4,200 enterprises resumed operation, down 22% compared to the same period last year.
Total retail sales of consumer goods and services in the capital city in the past 4 months reached 244 trillion VND, up 11.2% over the same period last year. The number of international visitors to Hanoi reached nearly 1.015 million arrivals, 11 times higher than the same period last year.
Generally, in the first 4 months of the year, export turnover of goods reached 5.3 billion USD, down 1.3% from the same period last year; in which the domestic economic sector reached 2.9 billion USD, up 0.8%; FDI sector reached 2.4 billion USD, down 3.8%./.
