Ho Chi Minh City and Hungary coordinate activities in education and culture

On August 21, during the working trip to Hungary, the delegation from Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) led by Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai, had a working session with the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation.

Deputy Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai congratulated Hungary on its National Day (August 20) and expressed the hope that this visit would create many cooperation opportunities between HCMC and Hungary, laying the groundwork for new projects and activities, especially as the two countries approach the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Veronika Vagra Bajusz, State Secretary of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation, warmly welcomed the HCMC delegation. She shared the ministry’s priorities and plans to strengthen cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam and Hungary, including HCMC.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides exchanged and shared a lot of information, particularly related to cultural and educational development.

Mr. Hai emphasized that HCMC is currently implementing many solutions to build the city into a regional innovation hub and is eager to receive support and experience from advanced countries, especially in high technology and new economic sectors such as the circular economy, digital economy and sharing economy.

Regarding specific areas of cooperation, he expressed the desire for Hungary to share its experience with HCMC in the field of cultural industries, focusing on cinema and performing arts. He also highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges through art delegations and the organization of cultural, artistic, cinematic and sports events in HCMC. Both sides aim to collaborate on performances, exhibitions and film introductions in 2025 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Based on the cooperation agreement established between the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, he said he hoped that Hungary would support Ho Chi Minh City in training professional lecturers and enhancing cooperation with educational institutions in Ho Chi Minh City.

Additionally, the Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee stated that Ho Chi Minh City currently has 172 ranked historical and cultural relics. It is necessary to find effective ways to exploit the economic value of these cultural heritages while preserving them. Ho Chi Minh City hopes that, with its strengths in cultural heritage preservation and restoration, Hungary will share its experience and technology in heritage conservation with Ho Chi Minh City.

Ms. Veronika Vagra Bajusz committed to making efforts for continued cooperation between the two sides in the future. Initially, the two sides will connect to organize online seminars so that universities from both sides have the opportunity to learn and share information and experiences in the fields of education and culture.

The representative of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation also agreed with the proposal for Ho Chi Minh City and Hungary to coordinate the organization of Ho Chi Minh City Cultural Day in Hungary and Hungary Cultural Day in Ho Chi Minh City, practically celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries./.
