Ho Chi Minh City leader receives Lao guests

On August 21, Nguyen Thi Le, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council, received and worked with the delegation from Champasak Province, Laos, led by Saythong Xayavong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council, during their visit to Ho Chi Minh City.

At the meeting, Ms Le affirmed that the visit to Laos by President To Lam in early July 2024 and the attendance of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and his wife at the state funeral of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong are evidence of the two countries’ unique international relationship. She expressed her belief that the delegation’s visit will contribute to realizing high-level agreements between the two parties and governments, deepening effective and practical cooperation in the relations between the two countries, while also exchanging and summarizing many experiences in socio-economic development and investment attraction, contributing to building a prosperous and happy Laos.
According to Ms Le, in 2024, Laos will assume the role of ASEAN Chair and APEC 45 Chair. Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, will continue to support Laos in successfully fulfilling this important role. She added that in the past two years, Ho Chi Minh City has been honored to welcome, work with, and share experiences with many high-ranking delegations and localities from Laos, further strengthening cooperative relations in socio-economic development between Vietnam and Laos, and consolidating the friendship between Ho Chi Minh City and Lao localities.
On behalf of the delegation from Champasak Province, Saythong Xayavong thanked the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for their thoughtful reception. Based on the cooperation between Champasak Province and Ho Chi Minh City, he expressed his hope that in the future, both sides will continue to strengthen their solidarity and effectively implement cooperative agreements.
At the meeting, departments and sectors of Ho Chi Minh City and Champasak Province discussed various issues related to socio-economic development and investment attraction to deepen the relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Champasak, fostering the everlasting friendship between Vietnam and Laos./.
