Vietnam - Angola's priority partner

Secretary of State of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Domingos Vieira Lopes has said that the visit to Vietnam is aimed at concretizing the goal of diversifying the economy of the Angolan Government, of which Vietnam is a priority partner in the region.

He made the statement when he was received by Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son, on November 15, during his visit to Vietnam on November 14-19.

Minister Bui Thanh Son welcomed the visit of State Secretary Domingos Vieira Lopes with many practical and meaningful activities, especially the organization of the Vietnam-Angola Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, in the context of the 47th anniversary of the two countries establishing diplomatic relations (November 12, 1975 - November 12, 2022).

He congratulated Angola on successfully holding the National Assembly and Presidential elections; highly appreciated the traditional friendship between the two countries; and affirmed that Vietnam is willing to coordinate with Angola to make the two countries' relations develop more deeply, substantively and effectively. He also sent thanks to the Government of Angola for creating favorable conditions for the community of more than 7,000 Vietnamese people living and working in Angola.

Secretary of State Domingos Vieira Lopes thanked Minister Bui Thanh Son for taking the time to receive the delegation; affirmed that Angola attaches great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries that dates back to the 1970s; and emphasized that Vietnam was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Angola just one day after Angola's independence.

He added that this visit to Vietnam is aimed at concretizing the goal of diversifying the economy of the Angolan Government, of which Vietnam is a priority partner in the region.

The two sides discussed many specific measures to promote bilateral cooperation, including increasing the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations in agricultural, pharmaceuticals and timber products; promoting import and export of goods with strengths of each party; and expanding cooperation in the fields of education and training, oil and gas, and digital transformation.

They also agreed to soon negotiate and sign important documents to create a framework for bilateral cooperation./.
